5 Ways to Spend the PAW-lidays Together

Now more than ever, pets have become an integral part of our families, homes, and daily life. The holiday season is perfect for sharing quality time together. Whether it’s relaxing with a cup of cocoa, or bundled up in the snow, there’s so many ways to include your pets in your family time this season. Here’s a few of our favourites:

  1. Netflix and Chew?

It’s easy to forget that being in the same room as us is one of our pets’ favourite hobbies. Whether you’re working from home, sitting down for a meal, or doing virtual yoga classes, your furry sidekick is never far. So, get cozy and give your dog a long-lasting chew (Like a Cheese bone or Bully stick), and enjoy a movie night together.

  1. Add Them to Your Holiday Cards

Who doesn’t love a present from the cat? Okay…not that kind of present. Maybe your pet didn’t do any shopping or wrap any presents but signing their name on cards and gift tags is sure to put a smile on someone’s face. Better yet, get your pet-loving friends together for a pets-only gift exchange!

  1. Tour the Neighbourhood Christmas Lights

Make the late-night potty break a bit more interesting. Grab a leash, a warm drink and take your dog for an evening walk to see the lights in your neighbourhood. A change of scenery is always good, plus it’s great exercise!

  1. Make Room for New Toys!

Lots of animals will miss having a loving home this holiday. Take a minute to gather your pet’s old things and consider donating to your local shelter or rescue. Some things to consider donating are:

  • Leashes, collars, and dishes
  • Linens, blankets, beds
  • Crates or carriers
  • Toys in usable condition

Head to our Resources Page for shelters in the area.

  1. Share the Nog!

A holiday tradition that can be specially made for pets is Egg Nog! Here’s a recipe that’s safe (and healthy) for both cats and dogs to enjoy.
